AEPC to set up training centre in Tirupur

The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) is planning to setup a training centre similar to the Apparel Training and Design Centre in Tirupur. The association was seeking a garment manufacturing school to train persons to meet the skilled labor shortage in the trade. The shortage of skilled labour has troubled all sections of the textile industry particularly the garment industry and the majority workforce is women, mostly youngsters who come to work for a while before entering wedlock. However, the move is to promote the training centres at all major textile clusters to train new comers and existing workers on the latest technological developments. Further the move would also make the availability of skilled manpower for meeting the growing HRD needs of the textile industry.

The garment manufacturing school will train persons to be tailors, pattern makers, cutting masters, quality control personnel, merchandisers and much more in the garment industry. The centre will also provide training in spinning, weaving, processing and dyeing departments of the textile manufacturing.
